Job Description:

Training Design, Development and Delivery Specialist to work collaboratively as part of a multi-functional team of SMEs to support the preceding Knowledge Transfer analysis and design phases. Then lead (supported by SMEs as appropriate) the development, planning and delivery phases of a wide range of Knowledge Transfer modules throughout the project timescale ranging from business processes to specialist engineering topics. The Target Audiences will be small in number and will require a flexible range of niche solutions using varied methods of delivery ranging from 1:1 On The Job coaching to structured Knowledge Transfer delivery sessions.

All Knowledge Transfer modules will require consistent module development achieved by creating and documenting the portfolio of Analysis, Learning Specifications (LSPECs) and Lesson Packs. Draft subject matter content concepts will be produced collaboratively with the relevant SME(s) and the customer's Knowledge Transfer lead. The Training Design, Development and Delivery Specialist will subsequently develop, refine and continuously improve the subject matter content consistent with the Transition Partner baseline standard. The training material format will include self-learning modules hosted on the Collaborative Working Environment in addition to modules that can be subsequently handed over and used by MOD trainers.

Typical activities will include:

  • Support to the Knowledge Transfer Project Manager in defining the training need for each of the Knowledge Transfer areas.
  • Design and development of a wide range of Knowledge Transfer modules to a consistent standard agreed with the customer and the Knowledge Transfer Project Manager.
  • Planning and producing the supporting documentation for Knowledge Transfer delivery sessions.
  • Delivering Knowledge Transfer delivery sessions, with the support of SMEs when appropriate.
  • Captures feedback and continuously improves the Knowledge Transfer approach and updates the modules and artefacts.

The successful candidate will have the below skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Able to work collaboratively with the Knowledge Transfer Project Manager plus multiple small groups of SMEs and customer representatives throughout the Knowledge Transfer life cycle from conceptual design, development through to validation.
  • Able to collaborate and communicate successfully with different groups of people.
  • Able to develop Knowledge Transfer modules and Lesson Packs to a consistent and high quality standard.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office standard tools, especially PowerPoint.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confident presenter and leader of Knowledge Transfer delivery sessions.
  • Versatile and able to adopt a coaching and mentoring approach when appropriate.
  • Experience of developing and delivering a broad range of Training/Knowledge Transfer content in a technology focused business environment.
  • Relevant training, learning and development, or education practitioner qualification.
  • Experience delivering training modules to small groups of technical specialists.

Desirable:

  • Familiar with JSP 822 Learning Specification (LSPEC) formats.
  • Experience in using training development tools eg Captivate, Storyline, etc.
  • Experience in using training evaluation models eg Kirkpatrick.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Visio.
  • Experienced in modifying and applying Systems Approach to Training principles.
  • Practices Continuous Professional Development and is aware of current best practice.
  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation.
