Salary: Up to £32,000 plus 5% flexible benefits

Role Overview

This is a unique opportunity in our Aerospace, Defence and Security sector based in Winnersh. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team driven by stakeholder management, relationship development, client mapping, social networking and rigorous market analytics. This role will be supporting business development and bid work across the sector. This position will require some travel throughout the UK depending on key meetings. We are looking for high-quality candidates with strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are also essential for this role.

The role fosters and informs working relationships between the Sopra Steria team and key clients, influencers, budget holders, decision makers and thought leaders to increase the effectiveness of the sales engine and deliver value to the client. Conception and development of a world class customer relationship management methodology to support and drive business development and sales campaigns.

The successful candidates will thrive on making sense from a chaotic and complex market environment. This is a market intelligence role requiring someone who can derive insight rather than simple analysis and be capable of knitting together various information streams including psychological, anthropological and business knowledge to provide actionable intelligence leading to sales success.

Please note, the successful candidate must be eligible for and willing to undergo SC Security Clearance.


  • To carry out Customer relationship management including: Stakeholder management, market analysis and detailed information gathering for the development of insights and innovation from that will inform all sector business development and sales campaigns
  • To provide input into the development and execution of the Sector strategy to meet set objectives.
  • To develop a detailed picture of a customer and supplier environment that gives a significant competitive advantage and delivers sales wins
  • To drive through the value propositions and proposal to satisfy customer and company objectives.
  • To effectively develop and manage customer relationships
  • To work with and gain the co-operation and commitment of key individuals in different units or disciplines to achieve assigned targets and objectives.
  • To feedback to the company any relevant market intelligence, eg customers, marketplace, industry, competition, technology.
  • To develop and share effective competitive strategies for target opportunities.
  • To assist with the preparation and analysis of results and forecasts.
  • To identify and comment on problem areas which could include making recommendations on more effective management of individual projects/business lines.
  • To prepare regular and ad-hoc reports and analysis as requested.
  • To provide back up support, and when required, to other team members.
  • To ensure maintenance of management information on the designated systems.
  • To acquire and maintain a thorough working knowledge of the company's services and an understanding of their applications.
  • To assist in the development of individual sales/territory plan in line with the overall sales and marketing plan.
  • To be responsible for developing and maintaining own specialism in support of the company's overall Business Strategy

Essential skills & experience

  • Demonstrable stakeholder, relationship management and analytical experience
  • Degree education in relevant subject: business, politics, social sciences, law, philosophy and or psychology.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Has the ability to work unsupervised and show initiative and anticipation.
  • Excellent analytical skills with understanding of how to interpret data and strong attention to detail
  • Strong organising/planning skills
  • Able to prioritise and organise own workload
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally throughout UK
  • Able to handle confidential and difficult topics professionally
  • Proactive, Self-motivated to work alone and adaptable to team environments
  • Flexible in approach to work and hours with high energy levels and a positive/can do attitude
  • Microsoft Office - all tools including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • SC Cleared or eligible
